I'm Greg Donelson, the maker behind the pieces you'll find at Calvary Woodworks. I work from my home workshop in Maryland, creating handcrafted woodturned pieces that celebrate the beauty, character, and uniqueness of natural wood.

My interest in woodworking began years ago while watching family members create things with their hands. Their example planted a seed that eventually grew into a desire to learn the craft myself. Today, I find great satisfaction in taking a simple piece of wood and discovering what it can become.

Every piece begins a little differently. As I work, I pay attention to the grain, color, and natural features of the wood and let those qualities help guide the finished design. I don't want to hide what makes a piece of wood distinctive — that's often what makes the finished piece special. No two are exactly alike.

Why Calvary Woodworks

The name Calvary Woodworks reflects the faith that guides our family and the way we approach this work. We believe in creating thoughtfully, stewarding resources responsibly, and honoring the beauty found in God's creation. We source wood from local and domestic suppliers whenever possible and strive to use sustainable practices in our workshop.

A Family Business

While I'm usually the one at the lathe, Calvary Woodworks is very much a family endeavor. Kelly handles much of what happens beyond the workshop — photography, the website, marketing, and the countless details involved in getting each finished piece from our home to yours.

Together, we hope to offer something increasingly uncommon: useful and beautiful objects made individually, by hand, with care.
