My woodturning story………

I'm Gregory Donelson, the owner and maker behind every piece you see here. Working from my home workshop in Maryland, I create handcrafted woodturned pieces that celebrate the beauty, character, and uniqueness found in natural wood.

My interest in woodworking began years ago while watching family members create with their hands. Their example planted a seed that eventually grew into a desire to learn the craft for myself. Today, I find great satisfaction in transforming a simple piece of wood into something beautiful, useful, and lasting.

At Calvary Woodworks, every piece begins with a blank canvas. Whether I'm creating a bowl, keepsake dish, bottle stopper, or tealight candle holder, I work with the wood rather than against it, allowing its grain, color, and natural character to help shape the finished piece. No two creations are exactly alike, and that's part of what makes each one special.

The name Calvary Woodworks reflects the faith that guides my life and inspires my work. I believe there is value in creating thoughtfully, stewarding resources responsibly, and taking time to craft something with care. I source beautiful woods from local and domestic suppliers whenever possible and strive to honor the materials entrusted to me through sustainable practices.
